TMC Ohio Region Receives Award
Fremont, OH – Farm workers, growers and farm worker advocates in Northwest Ohio were honored for their hard work and commitment during an award ceremony held at the 23rd Annual Farm Worker Appreciation Day at Walsh Park in Fremont, OH.
The Ohio based Farmworker Agencies Liaison Communication and Outreach Network (FALCON) presented “Harvest Awards” during this year’s event. More than 300 farm workers attended the event with free games, food, music, prizes and entertainment.
Mayor Jim Ellis of Fremont thanked the farm workers for their commitment to Ohio farms and emphasized their importance to Ohio’s economy. Representatives from the Governor’s office as well as Ohio Jobs and Family Services were also present.
The focus of the event was celebration and optimism. Local bands and mariachi singers performed. Plenty of food was provided and prepared by volunteers from various farm worker advocate agencies including TMC.
TMC was singled out for its outstanding work in promoting and providing their excellent services to migrant farm worker families. The agency received the prestigious “Harvest Award.” This was presented to the Director and Regional Administrator with an impressive plaque. Everyone was thanked by agency representatives, both in English and Spanish. Farm worker families showed their appreciation with thunderous applause.
TMC provided literature and educational materials, donated raffle items to numerous migrant families, as well as various games and activities for the children. Volunteers from the Helena and Fremont centers were present as well as representatives from the regional office in Fremont.
